2012 Capital One Academic All-America Teams
HAMILTON, N.Y. (6/7/12) – Colgate men's lacrosse junior James Queeney was selected to the 2012 Capital One Academic All-America Men's At-Large Third Team today as selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
The award is given to the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom.
The Capital One Academic All-America Men's At-Large selections include the sports of fencing, golf, gymnastics, ice hockey, lacrosse, rifle, skiing, swimming and diving, tennis, water polo and wrestling. Queeney was one of 15 student-athletes and one of two lacrosse players named to the third team.
The junior co-captain was first selected as one of 11 NCAA Division I male athletes on the 2012 Capital One Academic All-District Men's At-Large Team at the end of May. The Academic All-District honorees then advanced to the Capital One Academic All-America Team ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees were selected.
Queeney, who was named to the 2012 Academic All-Patriot League Team in April, is a mathematics major with a 4.15 cumulative GPA. He played and started in all 18 games this season at defense and completed the season with two points from two goals while also collecting 29 groundballs and nine caused turnovers. Queeney is a three-time member of the of the Raider Academic Honor Roll and was also selected to the 2011 Academic All-Patriot League Team.
