Colby Lacrosse To Construct "Ball Wall" In Honor Of Teammate
Share
Last fall the Colby Men's Lacrosse team suffered a tremendous loss after the passing of teammate and friend, Derrik Flahive. Derrik had a rare passion for life. His unmatched spirit of adventure, desire to enrich the lives of others, and ability to find beauty in the everyday things that are so often overlooked, were all traits that made Derrik such a unique young man. On the lacrosse field, Derrik played with a genuine passion and respect for the game. His success as a talented midfielder was predicated on his creativity, smoothness and very high level of stick skills—the best on the team.
To commemorate Derrik's life, the Colby Men's Lacrosse team is constructing a concrete lacrosse "ball wall." In order to do so, they are reaching out to friends, family and the lacrosse community to help reach their goal raising support for the Colby College Flahive "5" Wall. In striving for a wall fit for Derrik, the dimensions will be 30ft. wide by 16ft. tall and double sided, made of concrete. Once the wall is constructed, the current members of the Colby lacrosse team will celebrate the christening of the Flahive wall with a "Wall-Ball-a-Thon," combining efforts to complete one rep of wall ball for each dollar raised.
Please help the Colby team build this wall so that the memory of Derrik Flahive can be celebrated and remembered by current as well as future generations of Colby lacrosse players to come. Donate by clicking here.
