Coaching Grants Being Offered by US Lacrosse

BALTIMORE, December 2, 2014 — US Lacrosse, the national governing body of men’s and women’s lacrosse, is accepting applications from youth programs for grants that will support lacrosse coaching opportunities through their organizations. The application deadline is December 31, 2014.

US Lacrosse and Coach Across America (CAA) are serving as partners in this initiative to help urban youth programs to employ trained lacrosse coaches at minimal cost. As part of the Coach Across America program, Up2Us contributes a portion of the money towards a candidate's living allowance and employment expenses.

The grant application and additional details can be accessed online at www.uslacrosse.org/coachplacement.

With this US Lacrosse Coach Placement Grant, Up2Us will cover its allotted portion and US Lacrosse will subsidize up to an additional 35% of the remaining cost for up to two CAA coaches. Youth programs/organizations that employ the coaches are responsible for paying all remaining CAA coach expenses. All full-time and half-time coaches also receive free US Lacrosse coaches education training.

“We’re pleased to be able to offer this coaching grant opportunity in partnership with Coach Across America,” said Eboni Preston-Laurent, senior manager for diversity and inclusion at US Lacrosse. “Broad representation and participation add significant value to the lacrosse experience, and we believe that through these grant awards, we can further the impact of diversity for the sport in urban settings across the country,”

US Lacrosse seeks to recognize and empower organizations that are dedicated to growing the game and making lacrosse as inclusive as possible. As part of the organization’s ongoing commitment to providing participation opportunities to all, US Lacrosse is supporting organizations that provide underrepresented youth with lacrosse education and instruction.
