CBSSN To Carry Three Regular-Season Army Games

CENTER VALLEY, Pa. – Army lacrosse fans around the country will have the opportunity to watch the Black Knights on national television at least three times this spring. Thanks to an extensive Patriot League television package, the highly anticipated 96th meeting between Army and Navy, the Black Knights’ visit to Colgate, and Army’s regular-season home finale against perennial powerhouse Johns Hopkins in May will air live on CBS Sports Network.

“Playing to a national television audience is always a thrill for us,” said eighth-year head coach Joe Alberici. “We’re thankful for the exposure and chance to showcase this program and Academy on a national scale. We are also very cognizant of who and what we represent. Every time we step on that field, we are playing for something bigger than ourselves. Giving the soldiers serving this great nation a chance to watch us play for them is something this program takes great pride in.”

The Patriot League’s television package will feature six regular-season men’s lacrosse games in all. The CBS Sports Network will also carry the 2013 Patriot League Tournament in its entirety, which will take place April 26 and 28 at the site of the highest seed. Click here for the full schedule.

The Black Knights lift the lid on a new season earlier than ever before, traveling to preseason No. 12 Massachusetts on Saturday, Feb. 9. Army will play their next two dates at home, hosting Manhattan and VMI on Feb. 13 and 16, respectively, at Michie Stadium.

The 2013 Black Knights will feature the team’s top two scorers from a year ago – senior Garrett Thul and sophomore John Glesener – along with its top close defenseman in senior Brendan Buckley. All three garnered preseason All-America citations from Inside Lacrosse earlier this month.

Season and individual game tickets for the 2013 lacrosse season, which features six home games, can be purchased online (click here) at www.goARMYsports.com, by calling 1-877-TIX-ARMY or by visiting the Army Ticket Office located at Gate 3 of Michie Stadium.
