We like to keep tabs on fellow laxers. Periodically, Lacrosse Playground features profiles and interviews with what lacrosse players are doing in the business world. This week we spoke with Marcus Craigwell, Assistant Program Manager with MetroLacrosse and former Hobart laxer.

What’s your lacrosse background?
I lived and grew up in the city of Boston Mass, and I was actively involved in basketball and football. I never heard of lacrosse until my freshman year of high school when I was invited to play by my best friend. I went to Weston High school and played lacrosse during the spring all four years, which I ended up excelling in. I then took my talent to do a post-graduate year at Kent school. From there I fell in love with Hobart and the coaching staff so I finished my career as a Statesmen from freshmen to senior year in college.

How did you like playing at Hobart?
Hobart was a great experience because of the level of competition and how unified my team was every year. A word that was stressed on our team was “family.” We truly believed that if we were a family then we would succeed in every aspect and would put the team first in front of ourselves. I always looked forward to stepping on the field with my teammates and competing at a high level.

What is “Beyond Measure Productions” all about?
My older brother Noah Craigwell is the CEO of the company and I am a co-President in the company along with my twin brother Miles Craigwell. My cousin Logan Jones is the vice president. The company first came together in January of 2009. Beyond Measure is a team of experienced and innovative professionals. As a company, we strive to help our clients achieve their visions through creativity, professionalism, and communication. Our seasoned video professionals and designers deliver content that resonates with the target market/demographic that our clients seek to reach, we take tremendous pride in our work, as we understand that our clients’ success goes hand and hand with our own.

Who are your biggest influences?
God has the most influence in my life and has done so much for me. God has provided a focus for me and given me strength over the years through any adversity. Secondly are my parents, they have paved the way for to be successful and always show love in support whenever needed

At Beyond Measure it looks like you have to wear a lot of hats. What goes in to the production side of the business?
A lot of “grindin’ and hustlin’” goes into the production side of the business. Our company involves a hand full of D1 athletes that know what it takes to get things done and push ourselves in uncomfortable situations. Production is getting your hands dirty and creating something out of nothing. Without production there is no business, we understand that and strive to keep working hard and put the company first in all aspects.

How do you spend your free time, if you have any? Are you still involved with lacrosse?
I work fulltime for a non-profit organization called Metrolacrosse. We provide lacrosse programs to inner city kids and help them achieve and make goals that will be beneficial to them later in life. I am also the head coach of the Boston Bulldogs, which is great because I love giving back to my community. I try to get up and down the field in summer leagues and indoor lacrosse.

What’s next for “Beyond Measure”? Any plans to incorporate lacrosse in to a future project?
We have a feature film called “Breakout” that we are doing production for as we speak and we start filming in March of 2010. There are definitely plans to incorporate lacrosse into a future project whether that is promoting the sport all over the world.

Where do you see yourself and the company ten years from now?
I see myself being an active member in the lacrosse community whether its coaching or changing the lives of young athletes involved with lacrosse. Also being a part of a successful production company that will change the media industry and to put Beyond Measure on the map and expose the talent of Boston

Check out the trailer to “Broke” below, a short film from Beyond Measure Productions that premiered October 22nd 2009.

I coached Marcus back in the day on the good ol’ Weston HS teams and you could see the drive and positive attitude even when he was a freshman. GREAT kid, involved with some GREAT stuff! I wish Marcus all the luck in the world, even though he probably won’t end up needing it. He’s just that good.
