DENVER, COLO. (September 25, 2014) – Casey Vock, a former, full-time writer/editor for Inside Lacrosse Magazine will now serve as content editor for 3d Rising, a network of local partners across North America charged with finding, watching, evaluating and reporting on top and emerging lacrosse talent (http://rising.3dlacrosse.com/). The 3d Rising website includes fresh recruiting news, feature stories, analyses and more, all of which will become richer and more detailed under the purview of Vock and Matt Rowley, Director of 3d Rising.
“Though the name of the nationwide talent scouting, editorial program and instructional forum is 3d Rising, the lacrosse community should understand that we are a credible news resource for high school, club and college coaches as well as other industry professionals, evaluating all rising players across North America, not just those who participate in 3d Lacrosse programs,” said Vock. “3d Rising has been developed as an impartial/neutral editorial resource unaffected by player affiliation, ad sales or sponsorships. We are reaching out to the best and brightest in the industry to add to our evaluator network so we can provide the freshest perspective on players in traditional, emerging and non-traditional markets for the sport.”
Matt Rowley, Director of 3d Rising added, “You can expect to see our staff of evaluators and executives anywhere lacrosse competitions are taking place including recruiting events, specialized clinics, tournaments and even individual high school matches as warranted. We are making every effort to be the essential news resource for college recruiters and others interested in following the top performers and rising stars of the game.”
Based in Baltimore, Casey Vock most recently served as the editor of ILGear.com, a comprehensive news resource focused on lacrosse equipment and other products, lacrosse instruction and lifestyle features. Originally a freelancer for Inside Lacrosse Magazine, Vock became a full-time staff writer in 2011, covering pro, box, and college lacrosse (all divisions and levels), domestic and international championships, and profiles of established and rising talent. He assisted Inside Lacrosse’s development of their player rankings program. Vock has also been particularly committed to covering the Native American game having completed features on the Thompson family, Curt Styres of Six Nations, the Rochester Knighthawks and the Iroquois Nationals. He was the sole industry writer quoted in a recent New York Times feature about the Thompsons. His work has also been featured on ESPN.com and MSNBC.com.
Prior to Inside Lacrosse, Casey Vock was a freelance writer, covering high school, college and professional lacrosse. Earlier, he served as a contributor and/or full-time staff writer for publications including the Press Republican newspaper (Plattsburgh, NY) and Strictly Business, a commerce-oriented publication for Clinton County and the Champlain Valley (NY). Vock also worked as a project manager for the Syracuse University Whitman School of Management’s Entrepreneurship & Emerging Enterprises program and was an analyst relations support specialist for enterprise software developer SAP.
Vock earned an Associate’s Degree in Liberal Arts from Jefferson Community College and Bachelor of Science degrees in Business and Journalism from the State University of New York (Plattsburgh). At the graduate level, he completed two advanced degrees from Syracuse University: an M.S. in Media Management and an MBA in Marketing and Entrepreneurship.
“With Casey on board, we know we can reach all of our ambitious editorial goals,” said Greg Waldbaum, President and COO of 3d Lacrosse. “We are transforming 3d Rising from a good resource to one that is authoritative and essential to the entire sport.”
