Calleja Earns First SSC Player of the Week Award

MELBOURNE, Fla. - Trevor Calleja (Sr., Selden, N.Y.) of the University of Tampa is the SSC Men's Lacrosse Offensive Player of the Week. Eric Biller (Sr., Westminster, Md.) of the Florida Institute of Technology is named the SSC Men's Lacrosse Defensive Player of the Week.
Calleja and Biller were selected SSC Athletes of the Week from a pool of nominees for their performances during the week of April 6-12. This is Calleja's first player of the week honor, and the teams sixth this season.
Calleja was named Offensive Player of the Week following Tampa's 12-6 win over conference foe, Lynn University. Calleja won 14 of 21 faceoffs for the Spartans in the victory. He also added nine ground balls to his stat sheet.
The victory moved Tampa to 12-2 on the season, and they now extend their SSC winning streak to nine games.
Calleja and the Spartans will host the Florida Tech Panthers on Friday to end their conference schedule. The game is scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m.
