Byrd Stadium is home of the Maryland Terrapins football and lacrosse teams, which compete in the Atlantic Coast Conference. It's currently under construction to make way for a new turf field. Sources have told LPG that the field will rival the Blue "Smurf Turf" at Boise State University. Rumored colors include Grey and White. Byrd Stadium was first erected in 1950 in order to replace an older, much smaller stadium of the same name. In 1991, the five-story Tyser Tower, featuring luxury suites and an expanded press area, was completed on the south side of the stadium, as well as the Gossett Football Team House adjacent to the east endzone. Since 1991, additional renovations have been made in order to make the stadium more accommodating to fans.
The new field might be the home of future NCAA Quarterfinals. Just saying...
