Brown Men's Lacrosse Player Passes Away

charlie-kenneyIn an open letter to the Brown Lacrosse community, Head Coach Lars Tiffany wrote a about the sudden passing of Charlie Kenney. Kenney died from an unexpected seizure this week. It is evident that he was a well-liked young man that made everyone around him better.

Coach Tiffany writes:

The Brown community mourns the passing of former lacrosse stalwart Charlie Kenney '10, who died earlier today from an unexpected seizure. Charlie Kenney was a tremendous man.

Charlie was a Marine, and a member of the United States Marine Corp. He graduated from Brown University in 2010 as a 2nd Lieutenant. He represented the nation in the most bravest of forms: as a combat infantryman.

His degree from Brown was in Development Studies: international economic development. One summer Charlie traveled to Vietnam through the Harvard Kennedy School of Government. Charlie was a Captain for Brown Lacrosse, and on the lacrosse field, he was our primary Faceoff Man and played Defensive Midfield.

He was an incredible man who truly led his friends and teammates. For high school, Charlie graduated from the Belmont Hill School of the greater-Boston area.

Charlie truly lived. He battled. He backed down from nothing. He played hard, at everything.
