Boston, MA - Drew Kelleher has been named assistant coach of the Boston University men's lacrosse team, head coach Ryan Polley announced today.

Kelleher comes to BU after spending the past season as an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Siena College. He helped guide the Saints to an 11-5 record and the MAAC regular-season title. His offense was fourth in the nation in goals per game (12.38) and third in the nation in assists per game (8.31). He coached MAAC Offensive Player of the Year and Honorable Mention All-American Bryan Neufeld, who was second nationally in assists per game (2.44) and fourth nationally in points per game (4.75).

Prior to his arrival at Siena, Kelleher was an assistant coach and offensive coordinator at Hamilton College from 2009-11. He helped lead the Continentals to a 21-7 record over his two seasons with the squad, with the offense averaging 10.6 goals per game during that time.

"I am thrilled to welcome Drew Kelleher as an assistant coach to the BU men's lacrosse program," Polley said. "Drew is one of the brightest young coaches in our game thanks to his successes running the offensive units at both Siena and Hamilton. It is my full expectation he will turn BU's offense into a powerful and consistent unit in both the Patriot League and nationally. Drew's track record, along with his compelling attributes of leadership, enthusiasm and commitment, make him the perfect person to partner with as we build the future of BU men's lacrosse."

Kelleher was a four-year standout at Vermont, including a highly-successful 2009 senior season in which he was 11th in the nation in goals per game (2.50) and was the America East Fans' Choice Player of the Year. He also won team MVP honors that season.

The coaching staff is preparing for its first recruiting class as the Terriers get set to begin varsity play in the 2013-14 season.
