BOD POD Being Used By Top Division I Lacrosse Programs

As all of the lacrosse programs take the field for the second official week of Fall Ball many teams are trying to get a technological edge on their opponents. In recent memory, teams have turned to military training programs as well as other advanced conditioning. Two programs in particular are adding other forms of testing. The Maryland and Johns Hopkins teams are testing to meassure body fat and lean body mass with a new instrument, BOD POD. BOD POD, designed by COSMED, is used extensively in university and medical research, clinical, athletic, military, and health and wellness settings throughout the world. For the eighth consecutive year, the BOD POD was the exclusive tool for body composition testing at the NFL Scouting Combine.

It's great to see programs use such sophisticated technology. The information greatly benefits coaches and the players as it increases awareness of the effect of body composition on their performance, longevity, and overall health.
