DENVER, COLO. (July 8, 2014) – Bob Hamley, former National Lacrosse League professional player and Head Coach of the Colorado Mammoth, has joined 3d Lacrosse, the nation’s fastest-growing, premier lacrosse training, events and select club operations company, as the National Director of Box Lacrosse.
In his new role, Hamley will enrich 3d Lacrosse’s current box/field programs and will also concentrate on enhancing 3d Lacrosse’s box-specific platform, helping to grow the sport of Box Lacrosse nationwide. Within the next year, Hamley anticipates doubling the number of 3d programs and participants that focus exclusively on the box game. 3d Lacrosse is best recognized for its Box/Field Hybrid Training Methodology, so every program participant receives significant box training even while the company continues to grow the box game independently.
“Many NCAA Division I coaches now mandate box lacrosse training,” said Hamley. “They have sufficient, long-term experience (along with the favorable statistical results from their skilled Canadian recruits) to know that this is an essential layer of the player development lifecycle because of the game’s close-quarters’ environment and required tight finishes. To be able to support the sport’s growth via 3d Lacrosse’s nationwide footprint is an exciting proposition.”
After a four-year professional career with the Buffalo Bandits, Bob Hamley held several assistant and head coach positions with different teams throughout Canada before being named the Head Coach and General Manager of the Columbus Landsharks, (which relocated to become the Arizona Sting). In 2005, having led the Sting to the championship game, Hamley was the recipient of the Les Bartley Award for Coach of the Year and was subsequently named General Manger of the Year, becoming the first person in league history to win both awards. After a year with the Edmonton Rush, Hamley moved on to lead the Colorado Mammoth.
“Bob is going to be an amazing asset for 3d Lacrosse,” said Jamie Munro, CEO of 3d Lacrosse. “Bringing a professional box lacrosse player and head coach into the 3d Lacrosse family will instantly improve both our box programs and our Hybrid Box/Field programs. Every 3d Lacrosse participant gets box training which will certainly be refined and improved through Bob’s oversight, but we also know that he will instill players with a real passion for the indoor game on its own merits.”
Munro added, “Too many training programs simply roll the outdoor game indoors to account for bad weather or minor drills, but 3d Lacrosse uses only real box lacrosse gear, goals and goalies to maximize results and build enthusiasm for both.”
