Bauer Performance Sports Acquires Another Company, Inaria

Bauer Performance Sports has been on the move the past five years. In 2008, the organization was sold to Kohlberg & Co. for $200 million, which was seen as great acquisition for an underperforming organization. Bauer was originally purchased by Nike in 1995 for $430 million.

In June of this year, Bauer acquired Cascade Lacrosse for $64 million. In June of 2010, Maverik Lacrosse was acquired for an undisclosed sum by Bauer's parent company, Kohlberg & Co. Recently, however, Bauer has experienced a drop in revenue. The organization equates the drop in earnings to foreign exchange costs and expenses related to the acquisition of Cascade. The organization's most recent purchase, though, will undoubtedly increase its earning potential and improve its "Five Forces" according to Michael Porter's philosophy. This is an auspicious strategy for Bauer.

TORONTO, ONTARIO--(Marketwire - Oct. 10, 2012) - Bauer Performance Sports Ltd. "The acquisition will allow us to enter the large and growing uniform market, where we did not have the capabilities to compete previously," said Kevin Davis, President and Chief Executive Officer, Bauer Performance Sports.
