Fastbreak Lacrosse, Australia's first ever lacrosse focussed variety TV show hit small screens across Australia and the internet earlier in 2011 with the aim of raising the profile of and participation in the sport in Australia.
What started in 2010 as a weekly YouTube highlight reel from Junior and Adult club games across Melbourne has in 2011 morphed into a full thirty minute monthly program. Airing on the third thursday of every month on Channel 31, a popular Community TV station in Melbourne, the show reaches somewhere between 20,000 and 30,000 viewers per episode and attracts thousands of hits online.
Independent of any governing body Fastbreak Lacrosse is produced by three bone fide lacrosse die-hards in Ben Stevens, Gus Kirby and Ryan Bird and is hosted by hosted Evan Willis and newsreader Emily Kronbourg.
Each episode includes light hearted lacrosse related sketches, profiles on local club teams, highlights from every level of the game from kids to National level, interviews with local stars and some instructionals with international and college level players.
For those who live outside of Melbourne the shows are uploaded after they air at the Channel 31 homepage (http://www.c31.org.au/program/view/program/fast-break-lacrosse) and then move on to the YouTube Channel soon after (http://www.youtube.com/user/fastbreakweekly).
