WEST POINT, N.Y. – The Army club women’s lacrosse team received goals from 11 different players during a 19-2 win over Rutgers’ club team on Sunday afternoon at Shea Stadium. The Black Knights improve to 4-1 on the year following the victory.

Junior Leah Wasserman led Army in the scoring department with five goals, including a 2-for-2 performance on free-position shots. Sophomore Sage Klemek and freshmen Taylor England, Kristen McCarty and Kiersten Spencer all finished with two goals, with Spencer also adding a team-high five ground balls and three draw controls.

Among other goal scorers for the Black Knights were seniors Amanda Harrison and Erin Kelly, sophomores Erin Jollota and Jessica Zhu and freshmen Amy Johnston and Haley Robinette, who all netted one goal apiece. Johnston paced the hosts with five draw controls to go along with a pair of ground balls.

Army caused 10 turnovers in the contest, with sophomore Shelby Lindsay (3 caused turnovers), senior Marion Wiedemann (2) and Spencer (2) leading the way. The Black Knights went 8-for-8 on free-position shots, while Rutgers managed a 1-for-3 showing.

Sophomore Dominique Butts made three saves in each half to finish with six stops and allowed just two goals to mark the fewest this season by an Army opponent.

The Black Knights will take nearly three weeks off from competition before hosting club teams from Stony Brook and Boston College on March 28 and Harvard’s club squad on March 29.

The 2015 season marks Army’s final year at the club level, as the program will transition to the Division I ranks for its inaugural varsity campaign in the 2015-16 academic year and will compete in the Patriot League during the 2016 season.
