rookie-of-the-week

DETROIT (4/20/2015) -- For the sixth time this year, freshman Mark Anstead (Potomac, Md. / Gonzaga) saw his name called for a weekly award as he was again tabbed the MAAC's Rookie of the Week on Monday, April 20.

It is the fifth time this season that Anstead has been selected the Rookie of the Week and the sixth time he has received a MAAC honor as he was also the league's Offensive Player of the Week once.

Anstead posted five points on two goals and a season-tying three assists in the come-from-behind victory at Siena. He helped keep Detroit in the game early on with three assists and a goal in the first half – with his marker cutting a one-time five-goal deficit to just one late in the second. He would add his second goal in the third during one of the Titan rallies.

He also picked up three ground balls.

He now leads the team with 36 points on a team-high 16 assists and 20 goals. He is fourth in the MAAC with 1.33 assists, sixth with 3.00 points, and eighth tallying 1.67 goals per game. He is also seven among Division I freshman in points per game.

Detroit will close out the regular season at home on Saturday as the Titans host Jesuit-rival Canisius at 2:00 p.m., on Titan Field.
