UPPER MARLBORO, MD – Prince George’s County Public Schools (PGCPS) physical education teachers from 30 schools will have a chance to learn the game of lacrosse and teach it as part of the physical education curriculum thanks to a grant from the Prince George's Women's Lacrosse Association (PGWLA).
PGWLA was awarded a PE Workshop Grant for PGCPS teachers from US Lacrosse. The workshops will train teachers to integrate lacrosse into the PE curriculum using content developed by US Lacrosse and the National Association for Sport and Physical Education (NASPE). Facilitated by US Lacrosse certified instructors with experience using the curriculum in their own schools, the program is aligned with national standards for physical education.
Participating teachers will learn about lacrosse equipment, rules and safety, skills training, and best practices. In addition, the workshop will provide soft lacrosse sticks, soft lacrosse balls and a copy of the US Lacrosse Physical Education curriculum.
