Yale’s players will have a wide variety of Maverik heads and shafts to choose from, including the new A1, H2, Boost and Wonderboy shafts, when assembling their game-day sticks. For the latest gear, news and updates on the Yale Men’s Lacrosse program check out the team web site here.
"We are ecstatic to enter into this sponsorship deal with Maverik," said Andy Shay, the Ryan and Forst Family Head Coach of Yale's Men's Lacrosse. “Despite the relative youth of the Maverik brand, it’s clear that their equipment is top of the line. We are tremendously proud to be outfitted by the company that we see as the leader in the industry."
Yale climbed to the top of the Ivy League in 2012 by downing Cornell and Princeton to capture the Ivy League Tournament Championship. The Bulldogs, who have been to three straight Ivy Tournaments, earned a spot in their first NCAA Championship Tournament in 20 years by winning those two games. They finished with an 11-5 overall mark last spring.
"Coach Shay has done an outstanding job building a program we feel will contend for the Ivy League championship on a regular basis and beyond," said John Gagliardi, founder of Maverik Lacrosse. "We are proud to partner with such an esteemed university and program.”
Yale hosts its annual Christian Prince Memorial Tournament this Sunday with games against UMass and Rutgers. The games are at 1:30, 3:15 and 5 p.m., with the Bulldogs playing in the first and third games. Admission is free.
