Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, has announced it’s weekly award winners following this past weekend's action. Matt Danowski of the Long Island Lizards was named the Offensive Player of the Week.
Danowski led the Lizards to their second win of the season with a six point performance, notching five goals and an assist in a 13-12 come from behind, overtime win over the Chicago Machine.
“We just showed resiliency, you know not getting too high on the peaks and not getting too low in the valleys and just trying to stay consistent and try to stay level headed,” Danowski said. “That’s what you have to do to come back and win in this league.”
The former Duke attackman did most of his damage in the first half, putting away four goals before the break.
“You just want to get that first goal, get that monkey off your back and let the team roll,” said Danowski, who is now sixth in the league in scoring with 17 points. The 6’1” attackman was the No. 2 overall selection in the 2008 Collegiate Draft and was an All-Star that season and again in 2009.
