Timberstix Ash Shaft Review

Timberstix Ash Shaft Review

Wood lacrosse sticks have been around in the game since the very beginning, but in today's game with all of the composite and metal shafts on the market, not a whole lot of players use wood shafts anymore.  There are still lots of good wood shafts on the market though, with more small companies coming out with new wood shafts.  Timberstix has an attack shaft made of ash that is a very nice offering.

While all good wood shafts are significantly heavier than their more modern counterparts, they do give a nicer balance point in my opinion. Being made of ash, the Timberstix shaft is a bit lighter than lots of other wood shafts that I have tried, giving it a very nice feel in your hands when a head is on it.  The shaft has a nice sanded down wood feel that is lightly coated, that along with the slightly rounded standard octagon feel gives the shaft a good grip in your hand.

The durability on the Timberstix shaft is very good. I used this shaft for a few hard fought games towards the end of my Sr. B box season for defense and it held up great.  Besides a few small, insignificant dents, the shaft is in perfect condition after throwing a bunch of cross checks with it.  The shaft also has a bit of flex when shooting and dampens the impact when you get hit or hit with the shaft, which were nice small additions.

The Timberstix shaft is priced at $46, which is significantly cheaper than most modern shafts, but a bit more expensive than some other wood shafts on the market.  Overall, I liked the Timberstix shaft a lot and would recommend it to anyone looking for a wood shaft that is a bit lighter than most others on the market, especially box players who need a shaft that holds up to constant abuse but don't want to add as much weight to their stick.
