Baltimore, MD – Baltimore-based STX, LLC, a global sporting goods leader, today announced that it has signed a two-year contract with Major League Lacrosse (MLL) 2014 Goalie of the Year John Galloway. He led the Rochester Rattlers to MLL’s Championship Game for the first time since 2008 and finished the 2014 regular season with 194 saves.

In his role with STX, Galloway will represent the Shield line of goalie equipment in marketing campaigns and on the field during MLL games. The goaltender will also be involved in research and development to provide key product feedback to the company.

“The opportunity to join the STX family has been a dream of mine since I first picked up an Eclipse as a wide-eyed kid in my backyard years ago,” said Galloway. “As both a collegiate coach and professional player, it was very important to align myself with an organization that has a tremendous reputation and commitment to excellence in its products and brand. STX fulfills those expectations and so much more. I look forward to becoming a contributing member of this already impressive team!”

At Syracuse, Galloway was a two-time first-team All-American and set National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) records for the most wins and the most minutes played by a goaltender. A two-time winner of the Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. top collegiate goalie award, Galloway led the Orange to two NCAA Championships in 2008 and 2009. He is the only goalie in NCAA history to win the National Championship as a freshman and a sophomore. After his outstanding collegiate career at Syracuse University, the Rochester Rattlers selected Galloway in the fourth round of the 2011 MLL Draft.

“We’re very excited to sign with John, who is one of the premier goalies in the game. His powerful collegiate career has translated onto the MLL field where he continues to strengthen his game year after year,” said Greg Tate, Men’s Marketing Manager at STX. “With John’s elite-level insights, we’re looking forward to the continued development of our Shield product line.”
