Maryland women's lacrosse head coach Cathy Reese has been named IWLCA National Coach of the Year, announced Tuesday.
Reese led her alma mater to its first national championship in nine years in 2010. The Terps also won the Atlantic Coast Championship for the second year in a row. The Terps finished the year with at 22-1, moving the fourth-year head coach's record to an incredible 78-9 at the helm of the program.
In addition, Reese, who won four national championships as a player at Maryland, coached midfielder Caitlyn McFadden, who was named ACC Player of the Year, ACC Tournament Most Valuable Player, NCAA Championship Most Outstanding Player and picked up the Tewaaraton and Honda Sports awards.
Reese was also named ACC Co-Coach of the Year, earning the lofty honor for the third time in a mere four seasons in College Park.
The Terps were ranked among the nation's elite in points (5th), scoring offense (10th), scoring defense (1st), scoring margin (3rd) and win percentage (1st). They have held 18 of its foes to 10 or fewer goals this season.
