Grip 'N Rip: Grant Krebs

Each week Lacrosse Playground will be featuring a different lacrosse athlete as part of our “Grip ‘N Rip” series, where we’ll find out what the best use to fine tune their game. This week we are featuring the speedy Notre Dame Midfielder, Grant Krebs.

What head do you use?
A Brine Nitrous with two shooters and a V.

What handle do you use?
Blue Brine Optra every year since I got to Notre Dame.

Where does your pocket sit/what type of pocket to you prefer?
My pocket sits way up high....upper half of head.

Who is your stick doctor? Do you string it yourself or have a go-to-teammate/friend?
My stringer is Will Yeatman..Strings everything..Can't play unless he strings it...This year I have to ship my heads to him.

What kind of mesh do you use (Hard, soft, traditional/leathers, marc, etc.)? Why?
Brine Ultra Mesh...Don't even need to break it in..It's money.

What is your preferred glove?
Don't really get a choice..Use Kings...But I love them.. Comfortable and small.

How much whip does your stick have?
A LOT....not really known as a passer...cuz the whip is pretty bad, but I need whip for shooting.

Do you do anything unique to your head or shaft (pocket up-keep, tape jobs, alterations, etc.)?
Use same tape job....tape 1/4 way up...with 2 little tape jobs half way up and one at the top...Always play with a dyed head...Either Irish Flag or Dark Green.

How long do you keep a stick before you get a new one?
Use my stick for entire season.. Will perform surgery if neccessary....Would probably have a heart attack if my stick broke.

What’s most important to you in a stick/what makes a good stick?
The hold...I can only play with sticks that have a lot of hold and a good amount of whip..because of the way I cradle and shoot.
