Grip ‘N Rip: Duke Attackman Josh Dionne

Grip ‘N Rip: Duke Attackman Josh Dionne

Lacrosse Playground, every once in awhile, features a different lacrosse athlete as part of our “Grip ‘N Rip” series, where we’ll find out what the best use to fine tune their game. Today we feature Duke Blue Devils attackman, Josh Dionne. The Junior from Avon Old Farms started 19 of 20 games at attack last season. Dionne ranked fourth on the team in points with 36 goals and seven assists for 43 points. We had the opportunity to chat with Josh about what he is sniping corners with this season.

Who strung your new pocket for this season?
I think Greg Rose did an amazing job of copying my mesh string job and translating into the pita pocket. It has tremendous hold with very little whip or power as I like to call it.

What do you love most about the stringing and why?
What I love most is the consistency of it, I usually play with a pretty big bag and to have this guy throw the same every time just makes me feel so much more comfortable. I also love how Greg made the pocket easy for ball transition.

Does the ball sit where you want it to?
When I need to cradle one handed the ball sits perfectly at the bottom and when I need to drop my hands for a shot the pocket shifts nicely so the ball rests right under the shooting string.

Are you planning to have Greg string up another wand?
I just mailed Greg another Evo to do up so I'm excited to show her some love.

We would like to thank Josh for taking the time out of his busy schedule to talk with us. Duke kicks off their 2013 campaign Saturday in Durham against Denver at noon. Greg Rose will be setting out on a nationwide stringing tour and he may be coming to a city near you. To learn more about Greg Rose and the Rose School of Stringing Workshop click here.
