Gopher Lacrosse hires Joe Cinosky as Head Coach

Minneapolis, MN – June 15, 2010 – The University of Minnesota Men’s Lacrosse Club is proud to announce they have signed Joe Cinosky as their new head coach. Joe is a defenseman for Team USA and will be representing our country this summer at the World Championships in Manchester, England. Coach Cinosky also plays for the Minnesota Swarm (NLL) and Chesapeake Bayhawks (MLL) and was named as an MLL All-Star in 2009. In addition, Joe currently serves as is a program director for Lakeshore Lax. Joe concluded his collegiate career at the University of Maryland highly decorated with honors including: 2008 All-American, All-ACC, Captain, and Edwin Powell Award winner. In his high school days, Joe was a two-time High School Defenseman of the Year, two-time All-American, and led Mountain Lakes High School to a New Jersey State Championship.

Coach Cinosky’s assistant staff will include previous UMN coach, Aime Caines. As an assistant coach for the Minnesota Swarm, Caines has been strongly committed to Gopher Lacrosse during the previous two seasons as an offensive coordinator. Coach Caines continues to bring his highly versed history to Gopher Lacrosse having spent over 15 years in professional lacrosse between the WLA, MSL & NLL including three Ontario Championships and the 2002 Mann Cup with the Brampton Excelsiors. Gopher Lacrosse is grateful to have Coach Caines return for the 2011 season during which they hope to claim the UMLL Championship.

According to team president, Matt Puskarich, upon Coach Cinosky’s arrival to the University of Minnesota, he hopes to do big things for the team and the Twin Cities community as a whole. “We are ecstatic about the expertise that Coach Cinosky will bring to the table and look forward to following him to nationals.”
