These are the gloves Coast Guard Academy got for this season. The custom Warrior Riots are from Lacrosse Unlimited. The gloves embody the Coast Guard's Navy, Orange and White color scheme with the Bear In The Sailor Hat logo embroidered on the wrist pad.
The United States Coast Guard Academy Men's Lacrosse team finished their season with a tough 9-8 OT loss to Briarcliffe College in the Pioneer Collegiate Lacrosse League Championship game last Sunday. Tough because Coast Guard came back from a 7-3 deficit in the fourth quarter to tie the game at eight just before the end of regulation. Leadership, teamwork, fortitude and mental toughness were in abundance that day, but unfortunately - it wasn't enough. The Bears finished the season at 11-5 with four of their five losses coming to MCLA National Tournament bound teams and the other loss "avenged" in the PCLL playoffs.
As always, the primary goal of the Coast Guard Academy Men's Lacrosse team is to graduate leaders of character for commissioning in the Long Blue Line - the Coast Guard Officer Corps. On May 18th, 2012, seven of the lacrosse players will graduate, be promoted to Ensign and head out to the fleet including:
Cadet 1/c Andrew Breen: Naval Flight Training, Pensacola, FL (2012 Team Captain, 2011 MCLA Scholar-Athlete, 2011 All-PCLL Second Team LSM)
Cadet 1/c Daniel Mishler: Sector St. Petersburg, St. Petersburg, FL
Cadet 1/c Cory Pray: Coast Guard Cutter SENECA, Boston, MA
Cadet 1/c Mark Ryan: Coast Guard Cutter WAESCHE, Alameda, CA
Cadet 1/c Daniel Symansky, Coast Guard Cutter BOUTWELL, San Diego, CA
Cadet 1/c Dan Trainor, Coast Guard Cutter TAHOMA, Portsmouth, NH
Cadet 1/c Nicholas Zablotny, Coast Guard Cutter VENTUROUS, St. Petersburg, FL (2012 Team Captain, 2011 MCLA Scholar-Athlete)
