BUFFALO, N.Y. – June 14, 2012 – On June 16 and 17, the 7th annual Lake Erie Lacrosse Showcase and Festival will bring 75 youth teams from New York, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Ontario, and Atlanta to town.
The tournament, which is coordinated by Chris Burdick, Mike Carbery of Medaille College and Michael Wright of the Buffalo Lacrosse Academy, will take place at Old Fort Niagara State Park in Youngstown, N.Y. Organizers are expecting 2,250 players and coaches to attend, resulting in an estimated economic impact of $562,500.
The tournament is focused on college recruitment and coaches from approximately 30 colleges, including Brown University, Virginia Military Institute, Canisius College, Robert Morris, Mercyhurst, Davenport University, and numerous SUNY Universities, will be on hand to scout players.
Teams will compete in the following age categories:
• Under 17A / Elite
• Under 17B / Under 16
• Under 15
• Under 14
• Under 13
• Under 11
Games are open to the public and run from 10 am to 6 pm on Saturday and 10:30 to 1:30 on Sunday.
